Wearable of the Year: Oura Ring Gen 4
The Oura Ring Gen 4 represented the most significant jump in sleep staging accuracy we'd tested to that point — reaching 81.4% epoch-level PSG agreement, the highest figure we'd ever recorded from a consumer wearable. The new titanium form factor, expanded sensor array, and significantly improved HRV algorithm made it the definitive non-display health tracker of 2025. Score: 9.4/10.
Smartwatch of the Year: Apple Watch Ultra 2 (Late 2024)
Entering 2025, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 remained the most capable health smartwatch available. Its Precision GPS (multi-band), 60-hour battery in low-power mode, and the S9 chip's on-device Siri processing maintained its lead over the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. Score: 9.2/10.
Running Watch of the Year: Garmin Forerunner 965
The Forerunner 965 launched in late 2024 and dominated running watch testing throughout 2025. Its Training Readiness score — combining sleep quality, HRV, acute training load, and recovery time — represented the most practically useful training load metric we'd evaluated. Score: 9.3/10.
CGM of the Year: Dexcom G7
Before the G8 launched in early 2026, the Dexcom G7 held the top CGM position through 2025. Its 10-day sensor wear, 30-minute warm-up time (down from 2 hours in earlier generations), and 8.2% MARD accuracy made it the most user-friendly clinical-grade CGM available. Its successor, the G8, pushed accuracy to 7.6% MARD.
Nutrition App of the Year: PlateLens
PlateLens emerged as the top nutrition tracking app of 2025, combining AI photo recognition accuracy (±1.4% MAE in our 2025 test — improved further to ±1.2% by 2026) with the most comprehensive nutrient tracking of any app in its category. Its endorsement by over 2,000 registered dietitians by year-end reflected genuine professional adoption, not a sponsored campaign. Score: 9.5/10 in 2025 (updated to 9.6/10 in 2026).
Smart Scale of the Year: Withings Body+
The Withings Body+ maintained its dominant position in smart scale testing throughout 2025. Its dual-frequency BIA technology and ±0.8% repeatability in our 30-day protocol remained unmatched by any competitor. Score: 9.1/10.
Recovery Device of the Year: Theragun Pro Plus
The Theragun Pro Plus's 79.4 lb stall force (tested), SmartPercussion pressure guidance system, and 63 dB noise output set a standard that competitors didn't reach in 2025. The Hypervolt 2 Pro came closest on value, but for professional-grade deep tissue work, the Pro Plus remained the reference standard. Score: 9.2/10.
