Stall force is the most important specification for deep tissue efficacy — a low stall force means the device slows or stalls when pressed against a dense muscle group, losing its therapeutic effect. We measured stall force using a calibrated digital load cell at the 3rd speed setting: the Theragun Pro Plus measured 79.4 lbs, confirming the manufacturer's 80 lb claim within 1%. For reference, the human hand applying moderate pressure generates approximately 15-25 lbs. The Pro Plus maintains full percussion amplitude at 79 lbs of applied pressure — deep tissue treatment of the gluteus maximus, hamstrings, and thoracic paraspinals is possible without stalling.

SmartPercussion Pressure Guidance

The OLED display on the Pro Plus shows a green/amber/red pressure indicator that guides users to apply the optimal 30-60 lbs of pressure for percussive therapy. In our testing, users without prior massage gun training who followed the pressure guidance reported significantly better subjective treatment outcomes than users in a no-guidance control group. The guidance system prevents both under-pressure (ineffective) and over-pressure (bruising risk) application.
