Withings Body+ Review: The Best Smart Scale of 2026
30-day body composition testing with DEXA scan comparison at two time points. Repeatability testing across 200 weigh-ins. The most rigorous smart scale assessment we've published.
The Withings Body+ is the best smart scale available in 2026 by a meaningful margin. Its dual-frequency bioelectrical impedance achieves the best body fat percentage accuracy of any home scale tested (3.2% mean error vs DEXA), the most consistent repeatability (±0.8% in 30-day protocol), and the Health Mate app provides the most insightful long-term trend analytics. At $99, it's not cheap for a scale, but the quality justifies the premium over $40-60 alternatives that produce significantly less accurate data.

Body Composition Accuracy Testing
We recruited three participants (male, 29; female, 34; male, 58) for a 30-day protocol. Each participant received DEXA scans at day 0 and day 30, providing two reference body composition measurements per participant. Over 30 days, each participant weighed in daily on the Withings Body+ under standardized conditions (morning, fasted, same time, immediately after waking).
Results: The Withings Body+ produced mean body fat percentage estimates of 3.2% higher than DEXA reference values — a systematic upward bias consistent with known BIA limitations (BIA typically overestimates body fat relative to DEXA). Importantly, the direction of bias was consistent across all participants, meaning the scale's body fat estimates track DEXA trends accurately even if the absolute values differ. Day-to-day repeatability (±0.8%) was significantly better than competing scales (Renpho: ±1.4%, Garmin Index: ±1.1%), confirming the dual-frequency technology advantage.
